It was only after leaving my hometown for college that I recognized the unique wealth of experiences I had been privy to. I’ve come to deeply value the myriad perspectives that come with such a rich cultural exposure, and this sentiment was mirrored during my time at Fuqua.

Fuqua’s commitment to diversity is evident in the makeup of its student cohorts. In sections of 60-70 students, with whom one takes all core classes, I’ve had classmates from countries like India, Ghana, Italy, and more. They come from various professions, from marketing to non-profits. This eclectic mix has been invaluable in broadening classroom discussions and my own worldview.

While embracing global perspectives, I’ve also found solace in Fuqua’s Latinx community. The demands of business school, from rigorous courses to internship recruitments, can be intense. Yet, finding a supportive community of Latinx MBAs, who truly understood the unique challenges faced by someone of my background, has been invigorating. Their unwavering support and understanding have been a bedrock of my Fuqua journey.

This spirit of camaraderie and giving back is epitomized in Fuqua’s ethos, often referred to as Team Fuqua. As I step into my second year, I’m honored to co-lead the American Latinx Management Association (ALMA) with my friend, Ashley Pech. Our mission is to create a nurturing space that emphasizes both professional development and the celebration of the Latinx culture. We support both existing and potential students through various initiatives.

Reflecting on my initial year at Fuqua, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons learned, friendships made, and communities discovered. I eagerly anticipate the adventures my next year holds, as I continue to embrace and contribute to Fuqua’s melting pot of cultures.
Reda more here.

As a first-generation Latina from Miami, I was deeply rooted in a diverse South American culture.
