As the application deadline for the Harvard Business School (HBS) MBA program approaches, we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions from applicants, along with additional queries we wish more applicants would ask. This guide aims to clarify doubts and assist you in finalizing your applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top 5 Common Questions from Applicants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  1. GMAT vs. GRE Preference:<\/strong> HBS does not prefer one over the other. We consider the highest score from a single test sitting. For the Class of 2025, 69% submitted GMAT and 34% GRE scores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. GMAT\/GRE Waiver:<\/strong> There are no waivers available. Online versions of these exams are accepted, even without a writing section, provided they are valid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Work Experience Requirement:<\/strong> Two years of full-time professional work experience is strongly recommended for the case method learning approach of our MBA. Internships or co-ops during school do not typically count as professional experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Recommendation Letter Deadline:<\/strong> Recommendations should be submitted by the application deadline, with a 48-hour grace period for recommenders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Advantage of Early Submission:<\/strong> There is no advantage in submitting early, as evaluation starts only after the deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Writing a Good Essay:<\/strong> A strong essay is self-reflective, sharing new information not found elsewhere in the application. Focus on meaningful experiences and personal growth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Choosing and Preparing Recommenders:<\/strong> Select recommenders who can specifically speak to your strengths and growth. Ideally, one should be a current or former supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Post-Submission Process:<\/strong> Applications are reviewed by industry groups post-deadline. At least two Admissions Board members read each application holistically. About a month after the deadline, interview invitations are sent out, and others are released to pursue other plans.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
